Looking like a
fairly modern house, Martins’ Branch at Hale is shown below as it was in
October 1908 when the Lancashire and Yorkshire Bank had this artist’s
impression of their new Branch at Hale drawn for readers of THE BUILDING NEWS Magazine. In 1908 Hale is
looked after by the Manager of ALTRINCHAM and Bowdon, Mr A H M Gow. From
Edwardian times right through to 1973, a Banking service was transacted from
these attractive premises. A number of
Martins Bank’s Cheshire branches (most of which are now considered to be in
Greater Manchester) are operated by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Bank until
the amalgamation with Martins takes place in 1928. |
