From 1963 onwards, Martins Bank rolls out these attractive wood and glass display units (BELOW) – to be  to be used in every Branch – in order to promote the many and varied services offered by the Bank through a series of handy colourful product and information leaflets.  It takes until 1968 for the Bank to fully develop it’s “in-house” look, as you can see from the various incarnations of leaflets on display in these black and white photographs.

Some leaflets that were produced in the 1950s, such as “You can open a banking account with only a few pounds” are still in use well into the 1960s.  The general layout of our online archive is based around the idea of these leaflets and the kind of “in-house” look – which today would be more commonly termed as branding.  You need only click on the leaflet that interests you, to be taken to the relevant feature page, and a step back in time…
