Terazzo banking?
Well, almost, as this neat little branch pops up in yarm Road Stockton
in 1967, another sub branch to Stockton-on-Tees High Street. Ill-fated (indeed as many of Martins Bank’s
new builds and refits are at this time), Yarm Road lasts barely five years
before closing in the summer leading up to the merger with Barclays. We are
not certain how long a lease would have been taken by Martins Bank on
buildings like these, and it may have been that Barclays had to pay quite a
lot of money to release itself from having to keep a large number of really
quite tiny sub-Branches open… |
