The Lancashire and Yorkshire Bank opens a sub branch in the Sykeside area of Haslindgen in 1923, five years before the merger with the Bank of Liverpool and Martins that creates the modern-day Martins Bank. Barclays’ records indicate that under Martins Bank, Syke Side is operated as a Sub Branch to Haslingden until its closure in 1932.

This is another of those short-lived outlets for which little information is recorded, and if by any chance you have an image or information about Syke Side, please do get in touch with us as the usual address – martinsbankarchive@btinternet.com.  From information we hold under Lancashire and Yorkshire Bank, and Martins Bank, we do have a record of Managers associated with Haslingden and therefore with Syke Side: From 1923 to 1928 Mr T R Banks, from 1928 to 1929 Mr F W Howarth and from 1929 to 1932 Mr A T Love.
