 The small
  photograph (below, left) of Martins
Bank’s Branch at Heaton Mersey was taken in 1958 by Mr J Berry, a member of
the Branch staff, and it was published in Martins Bank Magazine with the
title:  “The bank at the Corner” A large number of the Bank’s Branches are concentrated in this part of
Cheshire, where it snakes its way around parts of neighbouring Lancashire and
  Derbyshire.

Heaton Mersey is one of three
branches in close proximity to one another, the others being a further
sub-Branch at Heaton Moor Top, and a full Branch at Heaton Chapel. Each was
originally opened by a different bank, Heaton Chapel by the Lancashire and
Yorkshire Bank, Heaton Moor top by Martins Bank Limited, and Heaton Mersey by
the Mercantile Bank of Lancashire. |

It is great to see the lovely (and slightly leaning) old
style public telephone box outside Heaton Mersey Branch.  You can see another example of this
particular type, on our page for MENSTON Branch.
