At Trimdon Grange (the
heartland of a certain
notorious former British Prime Minister), the newly created Martins Bank Limited
opens one of the first new sub-Branch under the Bank’s new name in 1929. The parent branch is Sedgefield, which also
has a sub-branch at Fishburn.
Despite opening for only
three hours a week, Trimdon Grange is taken over by Barclays in 1969, and
continues to run as a sub-Branch until 1980, which is not bad at all for one of Martins Bank’s large collection
of “front room” based offices!
