Waterfoot Branch and its
sub-Branch at Whitewellbottom come into the possession of Martins Bank in January
1928 when the Bank of Liverpool and Martins Limited amalgamates with the
Lancashire and Yorkshire Bank Limited, to create the modern day Martins Bank. |

Our Lancashire and Yorkshire Bank Records for 1922 state that
Whitewellbottom opens Monday Wednesday and Friday, but gives no times. From
Martins Bank’s Annual Report and Accounts for 1940 (above) we have
confirmation of the Branch status and the name of the Manager.
Whitewellbottom closes in 1957 at a time when Martins is renovating or
closing a number of outlets ahead of the second southwards expansion of the
Bank. |
