Gomersal is one of the
sub-Branches of the West Riding Union Bank, which amalgamates with The Lancashire
and Yorkshire Bank in 1902, finding its way to Martins through the 1928
amalgamation of the Lancashire and Yorkshire with the Bank of Liverpool and
Martins. Housed in this small but
pretty little building in Oxford Road, Gomersal, is a sub-Branch to
Cleckheaton. |

It is only opened to
customers for four hours a week during Martins Bank’s time, yet having been absorbed
into Barclays Bank in 1969, Gomersal is kept open for another ten years until
November 1979. |
