Somewhere, deep in the heart of Craven Country, Cowling is one of four sub branches looked after by Martins Bank’s main office at Skipton. Like many of the Bank’s smaller outlets, Cowling is only open for a couple of hours each week, but that is enough to provide an essential service to the local community. Between them, Skipton’s four sub branches are open on most days of the banking week, with Skipton itself open full banking hours, providing a full range of banking services.

	Cowling closes in 1981 after more than 75 years of securely looking after the money of the local people and businesses. Nowadays, there a different kind of “security” is available within the same tiny building on Keighley Road, courtesy of the Premier Arms Company…
