Roger
Riley joined the Bank at Burnley four years ago and after a spell at
Padiham, his home town, came to Clitheroe where he has a mobile sort of
existence working between the sub-branches at Chatburn and Gisburn. He is a
member of the Padiham Photographic Club and is a keen artist. Although he
had just passed his driving test he is not as enthusiastic about motoring
as his colleague Geoff Whitney...

change of hours…

an advertisement like this one (right), is taken out by the Bank to tell readers
of the Clitheroe Advertiser that having been mothballed for the duration of
the Second World War service is to be resumed at Chatburn sub-Branch, and
also to let customers of Gisburn sub-Branch know about a change that
will affect the opening hours of that particular office. Both sub-Branches are manned by staff
from the parent Branch at Castle Street Clitheroe, and opening hours have
to be worked out to allow for the logistics of making sure that the right staff
can attend the right sub-Branch at the right time, and on the right
day…
