It’s something of a tight squeeze at Martins Bank’s Caton sub-Branch, when it moves from its original premises at BROOKHOUSE ROAD, to this ‘affair’ tacked on to the village post office in 1966!  It seems almost like the branch is an after-thought, AND it sits right on the edge of a busy traffic roundabout.  When business was brisk, the customers might actually have had to queue round the block!  Size isn’t everything however. At these new premises, Caton sub-branch serves the local people and businesses for 34 years, making a total of 54 years’ presence in the village for the Bank…

Blink and you’ll miss it!

This tiny notice, buried in the middle of a page of business advertisements in the Lancaster Guardian of 30 September 1966 is the only publicity given to move from Brookhouse Road to Hornby Road…
