Life goes on, and
as much as we all enjoy revelling in the past, we are still travelling in one
direction only – forwards. As times
change, our lives and the places in which we live them change too. So it is, that as technology makes it
possible to do just about anything at home on any number of electronic
devices, the traditions at the heart of our towns and villages are slowly
dying – or “changing” if you prefer.
Here at Martins Bank Archive, it is always just a few minutes before
1969, but out there in the real world, Martins Bank’s former network of
Branches is reducing as the harsh realities of the modern world make these
buildings redundant. We will of course
mark their passing, and on this page, you will see which ones have fallen on
their sword since we first went online in 2009. Now that there are only a few Martins
Branches still open, you can see which have survived - or are about to be
axed - by clicking HERE.
Martins Branches closed, 2009 to date…
IN MEMORY OF, AND WITH ENDURING THANKS TO MARTINS AND
BARCLAYS STAFF - PAST AND PRESENT - WHO HAVE SERVED AT
THESE BRANCHES…
